I see you in pain and confused. Your very core has been shaken. The ground seems unsteady and you don’t know which direction to go. Somedays I know that you may even have difficulty getting out of bed. As a fellow human being, I acknowledge your struggle, I may not understand it – But even if I can’t see the scars I know that they are there.

I wish I could have written this letter sooner, but I realize that there is a time for everything. Even if I had sent this letter to you earlier you may not have understood. You were so naïve and hopeful, always had an open heart and a carefree laugh.

The one thing I know is that you have survived experiences that would leave a person hopeless. You are a survivor and Allah (God) made you a little bit stronger than the rest of His creation. You see,God only tests those whom He loves and all those times when you felt truly alone – God was there with you.
“When Allah desires good for someone, He tries him with hardships.” (Saying of the Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him)

I know you must have tried and reached out to family, loved ones, friends and they failed you too. They betray your trust, belittle your experiences or chide you for being so ungrateful. I know that feeling and it compounds the hurt. You may feel isolated and lost.

“Allah does not burden a soul beyond that it can bear.”(Quran 2:286)

You may have felt hopeless and broken. Don’t despair though because your Creator, the one who fashioned the mountains and the oceans and this universe, also created you. He gave you fingerprints which are unique only to you. God never left you – He revealed in the holy Quran that He is closer to you than your jugular vein.
“And indeed We have created man, and We know whatever thoughts his inner self develops, and We are closer to him than (his) jugular vein.” (Quran 50:16)

Dear friend, have faith, take the steps to know your Creator. He knows you intimately and He will not disappoint you. God’s mercy is more than seventy mothers’. He may have sent you comforts in ways you never even recognized.Reflect in His signs and relish in His glory. God is perfect and humans are not. Embrace your imperfection and yearn to be reunited with God, the Eternal the Everlasting.

“Patiently, then, persevere – for the Promise of Allah is true, and ask forgiveness for your faults, and celebrate the praises of your Lord in the evening and in the morning.” (Quran 40:55)

Peace,
From A Person Who Continues to Struggle
